About Sand Beach Lodge
The History of Sand Beach Lodge
You'll find Sand Beach Lodge situated in the area known as the French River Village on the shores of Dry Pine Bay. The French River was founded as the route to the west by the famous Voyageurs, the early explorers and fur traders of North America. Just imagine having a picnic or a shore lunch on the same rock outcropping as a great Native Chief, the Missionaries or maybe Champlain the famous explorer himself.
Our magnificent historic waterway is still untouched. At each bend of the river there are full view vistas and breathtaking landscapes.
The site was established originally by Edward Seagram of the now famous Seagram family (of whisky renown), after World War I, as a private family compound. In 1920 he brought carpenters up from the distillers to build this site.
